One of the greatest threats to Ndigbo currently is the Ebola virus since is fast spreading and kills lots of people. What really annoys me is that, of all things which well meaning sons and daughters of Igboland can bring back to their homeland, it is the Ebola virus that an Igbo Nurse chose to bring back. Why infect your own people with Ebola. Nne, it is not patriotic.

I recently read a report in the news about an Igbo nurse that was under quarantine as a result of being in close contact with Patrick Sawyer, that run away Ebola victim from Liberia who later died in Nigeria. The Igbo nurse chose to escape from the quarantine which was meant to protect her and other people and in this way even control its spread to Igbo land but of her own freewill, she chose to take Ebola to Coal city.

I know it is not easy to stay in quarantine especially when you know you can't fully trust the health care system in Nigeria. I wonder if it would have been the same in Biafra. I know it is not easy to stay isolated in a place away from your home and husband but for the sake of not being selfish, it would have been better to have offered that little sacrifice.

It would have been ideal for her to at least stay in the quarantine for a while until they were cleared and if not, she would get good treatment. Recently, I've been reading news report about Ebola exposed victims already being given a clean bill of health by the doctors after they've been in quarantine for a while.

It is not a good thing to bring a fast spreading and deadly disease like Ebola to Igbo land because things like that can give one a bad name and kill people too.
