There are now a growing number of restaurants in Nigeria that are going online. Yes, some of them have their own websites while some of them are also listed on third party websites that help them promote their business. One thing I've noticed about most of these restaurants is that I've not seen any of them listing some of those popular Igbo foods that we love eating. Does it mean they think that we wouldn't want to buy them online? What is the real reason?

I've been looking for a place where I can buy some traditional Igbo delicacies such as Isi Ewu, Abacha, Nkwobi or even Rice and Ofe akwu(Banga soup) but I've not yet seen any thing yet. The only thing I seen that they've listed online for people to buy are mostly Oyibo Oyibo foods such as Shawama, Pizza, Meat Pie and Yamarita. Ogwurumike. The thing tire me no be small. It's not every time that an Igbo man would want to eat chicken and chips or salads because Ndi Bekee have brainwashed us with their TV content but he would also want to eat some traditional Igbo foods from time to time.

It's not that there are no Igbo restaurants close to me in my area but it's not every time that I may have time to go out to buy from them and that's why I recommend that Igbo people who run restaurants should try and establish an online presence too so that educated Igbo people who know how to use the internet can place orders for their food and they will get to make more sales. I think the main problem why many of those traditional Igbo restaurants is that they are run by Igbo house wives who have little education or know how the internet works. However, I also have to point out that they have children who are educated and can help move their business online rather than wasting their lives pinging and chatting on mobile phones.

I would wish that Igbo people who run restaurants setup their own websites where they can also sell food and not just rely on only on the customers who physically visit their shop. I know they already have a lot of customers and are making millions already but they can make much more by selling Igbo foods online. It's so easy to do as all they need to do is list their menu and prices online with pictures too so that Igbotic people like me can place orders. They would then confirm the order with a phone call and then do a delivery to customers within the location they can serve. Igbotic customers may also opt to do a pickup for their food when they know it is ready for pickup and there should also be room for payment on delivery.

I've grown up eating a lot of traditional Igbo foods and I don't think any amount of Oyibo food will be able to stop me from enjoying my Igbo foods. Igbo foods are healthy to eat and in many cases, more healthy than Western foods which only cause cancer and shorten your lifespan. I've come to know that the main reason why Igbo people of today are dying younger than their parents is simply because they've stopped eating the kinds of foods that their parents use to eat and now eat foods like Fried rice, Suya, Shawarmaa and so on. There is something about Igbo foods that made our ancestors live up to 100 years after eating them. All, I want is access to also buy them online, even in Nigeria.
